Celebrating Student Success 2026

The Montachusett Practical Nursing program hosted a reception on April 13, 2026 to recognize the 21 students who received grants from Boost Fund For Students this year. It's a highlight of the year to be able to meet and congratulate students demonstrating what it takes to go back to school for training as future healthcare professionals. Boost Fund For Students donors gave a total of $6,000 to help these students cover expenses and feel the community's support for their hard work.
These students are all the first in their families to pursue Higher Education beyond High School, and succeeding in this program builds their confidence as well as professional skills. They're persevering through everything life throws at them during a very intense year of schooling to get to graduation and their nursing license exam in June.
What do the awardees say about their desire to study nursing and the obstacles they overcome to get through a year of accelerated training?
"Tell the donors Thank You from me. The day I received this award I was looking at my bills and trying to pick between an overdue car note or my tuition payment. The stress of working, school, bills and everything is really alot to carry. At times you doubt if you'll be able to continue.
Right then I heard DING telling me I had an email and it was Monty Tech saying I'd received this grant and my tuition balance was $0. It made me so happy and gave me resolve to keep going.
When you give a gift - you never know - it might arrive just in time to help someone when they are feeling low. This grant made a HUGE difference for me."
"Why did I pick nursing? I just really love caring for people."
"Work, clinicals, running your life. It's hard but you get used to it. Being in this program makes you stronger. I faced doubts from people who didn't think I could make it in such a demanding program. I turned every challenge into a stepping stone toward becoming the nurse I am meant to be.
The instructors stood by me and did not give up on me, even when I felt like giving up on myself. Their belief in me created an environment where I could grow, learn, and push beyond my limits.
I never felt like I was doing it alone, and I'm now stronger and more confident than when I started."
